Bike Course
Super Sprint & Sprint: 16.4 miles
Olympic: 40K (24.8 miles)
The bike course is open to traffic. The shoulders of the road are generous on the majority of the course - however there are the requisite and typical potholes and thinner shoulders in a few spots. Your safety and the safety of those riding around you are the utmost priority. Respect these rules for your safety and the safety of others:
1. No passing on the right at any time
2. Ride as far to the right as possible to give others a fair chance to pass on the left without veering into traffic
3. Do not Draft - maintain a 3-bike length between bikes at all times
4. When you are being passed, you must drop back 3 bike lengths. When the person passing you has gotten 3 bike lengths ahead, you may pass at that time if you wish

OLYMPIC BIKE COURSE CUT-OFF
As the traffic on State Highway 516 (Kent-Kangley Rd) picks up Saturday Morning, the management of the backup of vehicles becomes more dangerous and difficult in the areas west, south, and east of the park. For that reason, we have put in place a bike cut-off for Olympic Distance athletes. You must complete the first 13.5 miles of the bike course within 1 hour and 52 minutes. This is at the intersection of Auburn Black-Diamond Road and Lake Holm road - also known as the "Kelly Latte's" intersection. You will arrive at that intersection at mile 5 for the first time and take a right to do the Lake Holm/Lake Moneysmith loop. Your 2nd visit to that intersection at mile 13.5 is when you must be through by 8:52 for men, and by 8:55 for women and relay bikers. If you are past the cut-off, you'll be required to turn left and will become a Sprint athlete for the remaining bike and run the 5K instead of the 10K.
If you're concerned that you won't make a cut-off, you might consider switching to the sprint distance race and tackling the Olympic distance next year!
REOPENING OF KENT-KANGLEY TO TRAFFIC
If you find yourself on the bike course sometime after 9:30, you may be faced with an open intersection at Kent-Kangley Rd and Kent-Black Diamond Rd. A volunteer will meet you at the intersection and help you navigate the crosswalks to get back to transition where you can continue with the run and then cross the finish line.
